Vlissingen

Vlissingen is Zeeland’s cruise port. It was a major international port city in the 17th century, an era known as the “Golden Age” in the Netherlands, and continues to be to this day. You can’t miss the hustle and bustle in the harbor; as you enter port, you see all sorts of container ships, tugboats, and maritime activity.

From the harbor in Vlissingen it’s only fi fteen minutes to the historic district in Middelburg or the fortress town of Veere, which is just a bit farther away. A little beyond that you will fi nd the town of Zierikzee, which is known for its monuments and is located on another island that is reached by a bridge.
