Islands

Today, Zeeland is made up of various islands, connected by bridges and tunnels. The major bodies of water are the Western Scheldt, the Eastern Scheldt, Lake Veere, and Lake Grevelingen. Each island has its own customs, unique nature areas, and culinary specialties. Their fields produce delicious potatoes, onions, and vegetables, as well as grain for bread and beer. There is also a lot of fruit production. Vast fields of flowers in dazzling colors provide seeds for the international seed trade.
Zeeland is a tranquil and friendly province on the outer edge of the Netherlands and has no large cities or major thoroughfares. Despite its small scale, it offers enormous variety. In just ten minutes, you can travel from a historic town to a sprawling nature preserve or a wide sandy beach. The Grevelingen recreation area contains the biggest saltwater lake in Europe. The abundant flora and fauna, both in the lake and around it, make it a great place to go on a hike or photo safari
